It is great to couple weightlifting with cardio as long you don&#039;t overdo the weightlifting part. The reason is that muscle weighs more then fat, so you may end up gaining instead of losing. Don&#039;t give up cardio! Losing weight is a matter of taking in fewer calories and cardio is the best way to burn calories. Just walking for 1 hour will burn about 300 calories. Running for an hour will burn over twice as much. If you&#039;re going for that toned look, weight lifting will indeed add muscle definition.
